ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਉਧਰੈ ਸੋ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਝਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੫੦॥
guramukh naam japai udharai so kal mahi ghat ghat naanak maajhaa ||4||3||50||
One who, as Gurmukh, chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is saved. In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, O Nanak, God is permeating the hearts of each and every being. ||4||3||50||

Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਓਇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
jo kichh karai soee prabh maanahi oi raam naam ra(n)g raate ||
Whatever God causes to happen is accepted, by those who are attuned to the Love of the Lord's Name.
ਤਿਨੑ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ਜਿਨੑ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਪਰਾਤੇ ॥੧॥
tinh kee sobhaa sabhanee thaaee jinh prabh ke charan paraate ||1||
Those who fall at the Feet of God are respected everywhere. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
mere raam har sa(n)taa jevad na koee ||
O my Lord, no one is as great as the Lord's Saints.
ਭਗਤਾ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਿਉ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhagataa ban aaee prabh apane siu jal thal maheeal soee ||1|| rahaau ||
The devotees are in harmony with their God; He is in the water, the land, and the sky. ||1||Pause||
ਕੋਟਿ ਅਪ੍ਰਾਧੀ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਰੈ ਜਮੁ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
kot apraadhee sa(n)tasa(n)g udharai jam taa kai neR na aavai ||
Millions of sinners have been saved in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; the Messenger of Death does not even approach them.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਬਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
janam janam kaa bichhuRiaa hovai tinh har siu aan milaavai ||2||
Those who have been separated from the Lord, for countless incarnations, are reunited with the Lord again. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਕਾਟੈ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਜੋ ਆਵੈ ॥
maaiaa moh bharam bhau kaatai sa(n)t saran jo aavai ||
Attachment to Maya, doubt and fear are eradicated, when one enters the Sanctuary of the Saints.
ਜੇਹਾ ਮਨੋਰਥੁ ਕਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਸੋ ਸੰਤਨ ਤੇ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
jehaa manorath kar aaraadhe so sa(n)tan te paavai ||3||
Whatever wishes one harbors, are obtained from the Saints. ||3||
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕੇਤਕ ਬਰਨਉ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
jan kee mahimaa ketak baranau jo prabh apane bhaane ||
How can I describe the glory of the Lord's humble servants? They are pleasing to their God.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਸੇ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਨਿਕਾਣੇ ॥੪॥੪॥੫੧॥
kahu naanak jin satigur bhetiaa se sabh te bhae nikaane ||4||4||51||
Says Nanak, those who meet the True Guru, become independent of all obligations. ||4||4||51||

ਮਹਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਹਾਥ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਪਏ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
mahaa agan te tudh haath de raakhe pae teree saranaaee ||
Giving me Your Hand, You saved me from the terrible fire, when I sought Your Sanctuary.
ਤੇਰਾ ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜੀ ਆਸ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥੧॥
teraa maan taan rid a(n)tar hor doojee aas chukaaee ||1||
Deep within my heart, I respect Your strength; I have abandoned all other hopes. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਤੁਧੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਇਐ ਉਬਰੇ ॥
mere raam raai tudh chit aaiai ubare ||
O my Sovereign Lord, when You enter my consciousness, I am saved.
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਤੁਮੑਰਾ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮੑਾਰਾ ਉਧਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
teree tek bharavaasaa tumhraa jap naam tumhaaraa udhare ||1|| rahaau ||
You are my support. I count on You. Meditating on You, I am saved. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਏ ਤੁਮੑ ਆਪਿ ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥
a(n)dh koop te kaadh leee tumh aap bhae kirapaalaa ||
You pulled me up out of the deep, dark pit. You have become merciful to me.
ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮੑਾਲਿ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਦੀਏ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
saar samhaal sarab sukh deee aap kare pratipaalaa ||2||
You care for me, and bless me with total peace; You Yourself cherish me. ||2||
ਆਪਣੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਛਡਾਏ ॥
aapanee nadar kare paramesar ba(n)dhan kaat chhadaae ||
The Transcendent Lord has blessed me with His Glance of Grace; breaking my bonds, He has delivered me.
ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥੩॥
aapanee bhagat prabh aap karaaee aape sevaa laae ||3||
God Himself inspires me to worship Him; He Himself inspires me to serve Him. ||3||
ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਭੈ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਵਿਸੂਰਾ ॥
bharam gaiaa bhai moh binaase mitiaa sagal visooraa ||
My doubts have gone, my fears and infatuations have been dispelled, and all my sorrows are gone.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੈ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੪॥੫॥੫੨॥
naanak daiaa karee sukhadaatai bhetiaa satigur pooraa ||4||5||52||
O Nanak, the Lord, the Giver of peace has been merciful to me. I have met the Perfect True Guru. ||4||5||52||

ਜਬ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਸੀਓ ਤਬ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਵਨ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
jab kachh na seeo tab kiaa karataa kavan karam kar aaiaa ||
When nothing existed, what deeds were being done? And what karma caused anyone to be born at all?
ਅਪਨਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
apanaa khel aap kar dekhai thaakur rachan rachaaiaa ||1||
The Lord Himself set His play in motion, and He Himself beholds it. He created the Creation. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਮੁਝ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
mere raam raai mujh te kachhoo na hoee ||
O my Sovereign Lord, I cannot do anything at all by myself.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aape karataa aap karaae sarab nira(n)tar soee ||1|| rahaau ||
He Himself is the Creator, He Himself is the Cause. He is pervading deep within all. ||1||Pause||
ਗਣਤੀ ਗਣੀ ਨ ਛੂਟੈ ਕਤਹੂ ਕਾਚੀ ਦੇਹ ਇਆਣੀ ॥
ganatee ganee na chhootai katahoo kaachee deh iaanee ||
If my account were to be judged, I would never be saved. My body is transitory and ignorant.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖਸ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ॥੨॥
kripaa karahu prabh karanaihaare teree bakhas niraalee ||2||
Take pity upon me, O Creator Lord God; Your Forgiving Grace is singular and unique. ||2||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਤੁਹੀ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
jee ja(n)t sabh tere keete ghat ghat tuhee dhiaaeeai ||
You created all beings and creatures. Each and every heart meditates on You.
ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
teree gat mit toohai jaanahi kudarat keem na paaeeai ||3||
Your condition and expanse are known only to You; the value of Your creative omnipotence cannot be estimated. ||3||
ਨਿਰਗੁਣੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਅਜਾਣੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
niragun mugadh ajaan agiaanee karam dharam nahee jaanaa ||
I am worthless, foolish, thoughtless and ignorant. I know nothing about good actions and righteous living.
ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਿਠਾ ਲਗੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੫੩॥
daiaa karahu naanak gun gaavai mithaa lagai teraa bhaanaa ||4||6||53||
Take pity on Nanak, that he may sing Your Glorious Praises; and that Your Will may seem sweet to him. ||4||6||53||
