ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
raamakalee mahalaa 5 ||
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
jis kee tis kee kar maan ||
Honor the One, to whom everything belongs.
ਆਪਨ ਲਾਹਿ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
aapan laahi gumaan ||
Leave your egotistical pride behind.
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਤੂ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
jis kaa too tis kaa sabh koi ||
You belong to Him; everyone belongs to Him.
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
tisahi araadh sadaa sukh hoi ||1||
Worship and adore Him, and you shall be at peace forever. ||1||
ਕਾਹੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਹਿ ਬਿਗਾਨੇ ॥
kaahe bhram bhramahi bigaane ||
Why do you wander in doubt, you fool?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam binaa kichh kaam na aavai meraa meraa kar bahut pachhutaane ||1|| rahaau ||
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, nothing is of any use at all. Crying out, 'Mine, mine', a great many have departed, regretfully repenting. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਮਾਨਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥
jo jo karai soee maan lehu ||
Whatever the Lord has done, accept that as good.
ਬਿਨੁ ਮਾਨੇ ਰਲਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਖੇਹ ॥
bin maane ral hovahi kheh ||
Without accepting, you shall mingle with dust.
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
tis kaa bhaanaa laagai meethaa ||
His Will seems sweet to me.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨਿ ਵੂਠਾ ॥੨॥
gur prasaad virale man voothaa ||2||
By Guru's Grace, He comes to dwell in the mind. ||2||
ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਆਪਿ ॥
veparavaahu agochar aap ||
He Himself is carefree and independent, imperceptible.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮਨ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
aath pahar man taa kau jaap ||
Twenty-four hours a day, O mind, meditate on Him.
ਜਿਸੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਏ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਦੁਖਾ ॥
jis chit aae binasahi dukhaa ||
When He comes into the consciousness, pain is dispelled.
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਊਜਲ ਮੁਖਾ ॥੩॥
halat palat teraa oojal mukhaa ||3||
Here and hereafter, your face shall be radiant and bright. ||3||
ਕਉਨ ਕਉਨ ਉਧਰੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥
kaun kaun udhare gun gaai ||
Who, and how many have been saved, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord?
ਗਨਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
ganan na jaaee keem na paai ||
They cannot be counted or evaluated.
ਬੂਡਤ ਲੋਹ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੈ ॥
boodat loh saadhasa(n)g tarai ||
Even the sinking iron is saved, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥੪॥੩੧॥੪੨॥
naanak jisahi paraapat karai ||4||31||42||
O Nanak, as His Grace is received. ||4||31||42||

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਜਾਪਿ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
man maahi jaap bhagava(n)t ||
In your mind, meditate on the Lord God.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਇਹੁ ਦੀਨੋ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
gur poorai ihu deeno ma(n)t ||
This is the Teaching given by the Perfect Guru.
ਮਿਟੇ ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
mite sagal bhai traas ||
All fears and terrors are taken away,
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
pooran hoee aas ||1||
and your hopes shall be fulfilled. ||1||
ਸਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵਾ ॥
saphal sevaa guradevaa ||
Service to the Divine Guru is fruitful and rewarding.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਚੁ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
keemat kichh kahan na jaaee saache sach alakh abhevaa ||1|| rahaau ||
His value cannot be described; the True Lord is unseen and mysterious. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਆਪਿ ॥
karan karaavan aap ||
He Himself is the Doer, the Cause of causes.
ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਮਨ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
tis kau sadaa man jaap ||
Meditate on Him forever, O my mind,
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
tis kee sevaa kar neet ||
And continually serve Him.
ਸਚੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੀਤ ॥੨॥
sach sahaj sukh paavahi meet ||2||
You shall be blessed with truth, intuition and peace, O my friend. ||2||
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
saahib meraa at bhaaraa ||
My Lord and Master is so very great.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
khin mahi thaap uthaapanahaaraa ||
In an instant, He establishes and disestablishes.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
tis bin avar na koee ||
There is no other than Him.
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
jan kaa raakhaa soee ||3||
He is the Saving Grace of His humble servant. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ ॥
kar kirapaa aradaas suneejai ||
Please take pity on me, and hear my prayer,
ਅਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
apane sevak kau darasan deejai ||
that Your servant may behold the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਪੀ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੁ ॥
naanak jaapee jap jaap ||
Nanak chants the Chant of the Lord,
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੪॥੩੨॥੪੩॥
sabh te ooch jaa kaa parataap ||4||32||43||
whose glory and radiance are the highest of all. ||4||32||43||

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:
ਬਿਰਥਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਲੋਕ ॥
birathaa bharavaasaa lok ||
Reliance on mortal man is useless.
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ॥
thaakur prabh teree tek ||
O God, my Lord and Master, You are my only Support.
ਅਵਰ ਛੂਟੀ ਸਭ ਆਸ ॥
avar chhootee sabh aas ||
I have discarded all other hopes.
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥੧॥
achi(n)t thaakur bhete gunataas ||1||
I have met with my carefree Lord and Master, the treasure of virtue. ||1||
ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
eko naam dhiaai man mere ||
Meditate on the Name of the Lord alone, O my mind.
ਕਾਰਜੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaaraj teraa hovai pooraa har har har gun gaai man mere ||1|| rahaau ||
Your affairs shall be perfectly resolved; sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ॥
tum hee kaaran karan ||
You are the Doer, the Cause of causes.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨ ॥
charan kamal har saran ||
Your lotus feet, Lord, are my Sanctuary.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਓਹੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
man tan har ohee dhiaaiaa ||
I meditate on the Lord in my mind and body.
ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
aana(n)d har roop dikhaaiaa ||2||
The blissful Lord has revealed His form to me. ||2||
ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਸਦੀਵ ॥
tis hee kee ot sadeev ||
I seek His eternal support;
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੀਨੇ ਹੈ ਜੀਵ ॥
jaa ke keene hai jeev ||
He is the Creator of all beings.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
simarat har karat nidhaan ||
Remembering the Lord in meditation, the treasure is obtained.
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੩॥
raakhanahaar nidaan ||3||
At the very last instant, He shall be your Savior. ||3||
ਸਰਬ ਕੀ ਰੇਣ ਹੋਵੀਜੈ ॥
sarab kee ren hoveejai ||
Be the dust of all men's feet.
ਆਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਮਿਲੀਜੈ ॥
aap mitaai mileejai ||
Eradicate self-conceit, and merge in the Lord.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
anadin dhiaaeeai naam ||
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸਫਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੪੪॥
saphal naanak ihu kaam ||4||33||44||
O Nanak, this is the most rewarding activity. ||4||33||44||

ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਕਰੀਮ ॥
kaaran karan kareem ||
He is the Doer, the Cause of causes, the bountiful Lord.
ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਰਹੀਮ ॥
sarab pratipaal raheem ||
The merciful Lord cherishes all.
ਅਲਹ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
alah alakh apaar ||
The Lord is unseen and infinite.
ਖੁਦਿ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਵਡ ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰ ॥੧॥
khud khudaai vad besumaar ||1||
God is great and endless. ||1||
